Welcome back...

It's been far to long without any general contact from us but we are back! We got a bit busy, had some earthquakes, some heavy snow and basically couldn't find the time to produce our newsletter which was bad. The point of this newsletter is to very basically keep you in the loop with what we are up to and what's new so I hope you find it informative...

We got Lean while we were away!

We have spent the last 7 months going through a Lean transformation. For those of you that haven't heard of Lean Thinking it is a process developed from what Toyota has been doing since the late 50's in regard to waste reduction and efficiency improvements. We were given an opportunity last year through Print NZ (our national association) to be part of a series of workshops, funded by the Department of Labour, for us and another Christchurch based company (Geon). Through these workshops we developed teams who were responsible for a number of changes throughout our factory that have made huge differences in the way we produce, what we consider is waste & our culture towards improvement. We are more than happy to talk to anybody that wants to understand what Lean is all about as we firmly believe that the NZ manufacturing industry will be dominated by Lean based businesses within the next 10 years. Updated Performance Results....

Each time we publish a newsletter we want to use it as an opportunity to do a bit of obvious self promotion! With that in mind listed to the left is the results of the first half of 2012 which shows our 'jobs completed on time' information. Basically what this tells us is how many jobs we are completing in the timeframe required by the client. We are pretty proud of the fact that we can consistently hit in excess of 90% but are obviously always looking at ways to improve. How many other screen printers do you know that can generate these sorts of results on a regular basis let alone have that information available!?
